Core Dumped

On my Redhat 6.2 E-mail server and using sendmail 8.8.7, when I typed the command :
ps -ax | grep sendmail
It gives me :
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

Although I've restarted sendmail and reboot the machine, but the proplem is still there!

Any Solutions?

Try to narrow it down to see if it is the ps command or the grep command that is causing the core dump. I don't think you will find anything in the log files , but it is always a good idea to look.

Once you narrow it down to which command is causing the problem you can try reinstalling the package that it belongs to.

Actually, it is the PS command which caused this fault!!!
How to fix that???

I would make an attempt at reinstalling the package.

To find out what package it belongs to, do a "which ps" to see where it is located. Then do a "rpm -q --whatprovides /path/to/ps". Once you figure out what packge it belongs to, try reinstalling it with "rpm -e <packagename>" to uninstall it and then a "rpm -ivh packagename.rpm" to reinstall it.
