Hey there...

Alright, I got my Linux workstation up finally and I was contemplating downloading NetCat and snooping the network at work...

... but then I started getting a splitting headache from the font sizes in Netscape and Windows X. Also, the size of my screen has about an inch border on the top and sides of black, unused space. Also the picture is really grainy, which leads me back to my Win98 machine to avoid the mess of my eyes blowing out of the sockets.

I've looked briefly online, and again haven't found much. I changed the default font to a larger one, but it didn't help much.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
- Jason

Let's just boot up Windows X right now.... here we go... ahh... no... my eyes.... MY EYEEESSS...(boom, splat)

What resolution do you have it set on? Have you tried to set the resolution or change the configuration of X?

I ran Xconfig and all of that... have it set to SVGA 1024 768, 50 hz

Maybe that's the prob... anyways, it's still giving me a headache. It's not the POS monitor either, it's something to do with the video settings. Any suggestions? Maybe I'll run in a lower res.

Yeah try it at a lower resolution, i know once i installed mandrake and the resolution stayed like that no matter what, real grainy and hard to read, then i installed slackware and it was crisp and clean. Sometimes i don't know, like it is the version of xfree86 or something or the driver, maybe the frequency it is refreshing.
