13Gb! That's plenty of space. Ok, first do the Window$ install without partitioning the drive. Load all software for windows that you know you want on it and make sure it's working properly (if you get a bluescreen after 4 hours it's working -hehe)
Once you have Wind
w$ installed and running you're ready to install RedHat 7.1
Insert RedHat7.1 CD and reboot the box. Follow prompts to install...and when you get to choose Disk Druid or Fdisk, choose Disk Druid (easier for newbies). Now the RedHat version of Fdisk/Disk Druid knows about Window$ partitions and can partition a disk without blowing away the Windows partition, it just moves it to the front of the disk and then slices it's own partitions as you defined them. So, a 13Gb drive: give window$ 7Gb. That will leave Redhat with 6Gb and that's plenty.
I have a box with a 6Gb harddrive and it's partitioned like this:
/ = 500M
/boot = 250M
/home = 695M
/opt = 695M
/user = 1.8Gb #system files go here that's why
/usr/local = 926M
/var = 841M
and my swap is 2x Ram, so if you have 128M RAM, then make swap 256M.
Just make sure you load windows first and then partition using Disk Druid. If you have any questions or problems you can post here and I'll get an e-mail advising me to read it. Hope this helps. Also check
