Just installed Mandrake 7.1 on My Compaq Deskpro EXS. All seemed to go well until it came to the sound card, wich doesnt seem to want to behave. When you play .WAV or .MP3 files through it, the sound seems to run at about 1.5 to 2 times the speed. Kind of funny at first, but gets on your nerves after a while. Strange thing is that CD's seem to play fine.
Not really my area, I'm affraid, as I've still not got my s/c to work (not really trying at the mo, got Uni coursework!). Have you got your output settings in XMMS (or whatever you use) correct?

Hey,
What kind of motherboard is it? i815, i810, VIA? If you recompile your kernel to 2.4.4 they have support for all intel soundcards, mandrake 7.1 doesnt have support for i8XX based sound cards.
good luck.
Yep it's a 815 based motherboard, so I guess it's Mandrakes lack of support. Is it possible to patch this so that I have support, or is it a case of a new distro?
