Hi all, a newbie that is gettin very frustrated. I have read from other posts on the forum that its so easy to get,run and install linux. I have been to most of the distributers on the web and i am finding it really hard to know what i have to download and then how to go about getting it onto my machine. The installation notes are to say the least Phd. material. Any one got any tips or know of any easy to download linux.
The more easy is to buy the distribution but you can
download it from a suse server
You just have to boot the cd
And then, you are guided with yast2 in graphics mode as easy as windows !
(SuSE is a german originated distribution)
And stable.
If i want to use the server, am i basically going to have to know what i want to download, if you know what i mean, alot of files an folders. appericiate the help.
The most easy is to download an ISO image of the redhad 7.1
It only takes two cd's and is as instuitive as suse for install.
Do you know how it work to download by FTP ?
The server is
ftp.redhat.com
User : anonymous
password : name@email.com (type an email address ! )
the folder is :
/pub/redhat/redhat-7.1-en/iso/i386/
You can find an ftp client anywhere (www.download.com -> type in search : ftp client)
Install it
You will have an connect button : fill the information
server
user
password
and if needed, find the checkbox option to set or unset passive mode for download
If connected, browse to the folder and dowload !!
When download complete, burn the iso image with esay cd creator and boot with the installation cd
