Hi Ok i found all the information about the new upgrades and have installed the linux-madrake frequency with the 3d support and all. For right now I would like to watch tv while I am working. Does anyone know how i do this? Hmm remember me? I know nothing--just found command line-i think.
hello elizabeth.
on behalf on linuxquestions, let me welcome you to the linux experience.
i'm sure that your first two weeks have been quite a learning experience, just as they are for anyone new to the linux enviroment. you'll learn to love it, even if it is somewhat of a trial-by-fire experience.
in addition to the many features that linux itself provides, i'd also like to show you around the website a bit. in particular, you may not have noticed the "post reply" button on the bottom right hand corner of this thread. this button enables you to add yet another message to the bottom of the thread, instead of starting a whole new one. this enables us to keep the number of independant threads down, and allows the gurus and members of this forum to help newbies much more efficiently. we encourage you to use this feature to report your progress back to us, it's much easier than following multiple threads.
hi elizabeth,I don't think that ATI's all in wonder cards are supported under Linux. I was going to buy one but I read a magazine review of tv cards and it said that they were't supported. If anyone has any experience with one post a reply, cos I could be wrong
From what I have found, ATI AIW rage 128 and Radeon are support, BUT FOR VIDEO ONLY, not TV viewing. I have not found out yet if these are planned or not, but I can tell you that you can buy a WinTV card and it is supported, except for PVR model and the new digital models. PVR will have linux support, but no timeframe has yet been given.
I found the tv software for the ati all in wonder ! I guess it's brand new. I installed it I think. But the computer has other errors so now not doing anything with it. But there is one out there now! Cool eh!
Ok you all know I'm new that is the link and software that lead me to the other link hehe. All in wonder radeon tv does not work with that one You need to go here http://www.metzlerbros.de/bttv.html You need the one for bt878chip. What does that mean? A good question for an expert hehe
