I'm looking into getting a new video card to replace my aging Voodoo3, and I was considering the ATI Radeon 64meg DDR. I just read someplace that it isn't compatilible with linux. The DRI page on sourceforge indicates that the Radeon chipsets are supported, but it mentioned nothing about specific cards. Before spending $150 on this, I wanted to double check. Any information on this? And if it's not compatible, any recommendations for a card under $150 or so? (i.e., not GeForce3)
I have a Radeon 64 DDR and it works fine in linux. The only problem I had is you have to make another kernel module radeon.o-the one from the kernel is outdated. And you have to run a 2.4.x kernel and a new version of x
mine is supported even the 3d with mandrake 8.0 frequency and yes even has tv software for the ati tv now. Just downloaded it! This version has some real slowness problems though. Have seen others complaining of this on other sites...maybe someone will fix it(one can hope) Great graphics and 3d.
