Hello,
Installed SuSE 7.1 personal and my kde desktop does not fill up my monitor screen. have monitor set at 800 x 600 16 color. Is this wrong? need some help please. Monitor is studioworks 57i.

What do you mean does not fill up screen, like the borders of the actual picture? If so, those would be the settings on the monitor itself to expand the acutal picture. If not then use YaSt or xf86config to configure your X windows.
