Unhappy MySQL Permission Problems

Hello Team,

I’ve been struggling with getting CyberCalendar to work for me. So far no success....

But I have managed to lock myself out of MySQL. I use WebMin to access MySQL and now when I go to the MySQL server module it asks me for a root password. The root password I use for my system doesn’t work. Somehow when I was changing permissions in the hope of getting CyberCalendar to work I must have done something that causes the system to reject my password. In fact it says that the root user is restricted.

I tried uninstalling the MySQL server and client, then re installing it, but that didn’t help. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

I think if you delete the mysql database (and maybe other mysql files) and then re-install it, it should work. Perhaps someone can confirm this.

RTFM, there is a section in the mysql manual for resetting a lost password. I cannot remember the exact syntax, but it comes down to starting mysql without the grant tables.
