this is a stupid question, but im not at my box right now so im not sure of the answer.. im trying to access my window$ partition 'Program Files' dir through telnet.. when i try to cd to 'Program Files', im getting a invalid dir, because of the space.. what would the cd command look like to handle the space?
thanks!

well im assuming that you use bash on your linux box

you can often just type

cd Pr<tab>

then it'll fill the rest in for you. since it can take ages typing in those windows directory names.

otherwise you need to use the escape character. basically it tells bash to ignore the next letter you type. for bash the escape character is \

so you want to type cd /mnt/windows/Program\ Files/

or something like that (depending on how your filesystem is set up)

hope that helped

Allowing whitespace in filenames is the worst decision ever made my Microsoft. I think you can quote the entire file or directory name. cd "Program Files"
