Question

I am very new to linux and I am having great difficulty connecting to the internet. I am trying to connect from University so I have to use there ISDN line. If I connect using a the ISDN modem I dont get any problems but if I connect a v.90 modem into the phone port of the ISDN modem as I done with Windows on many occations, I get a pppd error. I am using the kppp app and the details file tells me that I have tried to lauch pppd before the remote server was ready to establish PPP conection. I thought that the kppp took care of all this?
