My server is running the named dns caching server in Linux. The dns ip and the gateway ip are the same on my server. I have noticed that on a lot of dns servers, the gateway and dns ips are different. Is there any special reason for that? Do I need to change my dns ip?
Additionaly, I have two machines connected to the Net, one is a primary DNS server and the other is a slave DNS server and gateway. In case that primary server fails, slave server solve this problem.
