programming

hi there
I keep getting ...iostream.h..no such file..
when trying to do "Hello World!" i read to do this
....save file $LFS/root/hello.c and then
gcc hello.c -o hello and it worked(but this one had iostdl.h ,(or like that cant remember off hand),for #include.
at #include<....h> when it has iostrem.h it wont
work (even g++)which is what the above source suggests.I'm using sams c++in24hrs and they say
check compilers directions for your include path or enviroment variables.I'm new to programming &pc
.Cant seem to find.....any sugestions would be welcome.

Is iostream.h on your machine? Execute this find command and see if it finds it:

find /usr/include -name iostream.h

If so, it may not be in your standard system include path. I'm not sure where that is configured though.

Is that header being include with quotes "" or brackets <>?

Try posting the small example program that fails on your machine.

wow, this brings back memories. they shipped 'drake 7.1 without that header file. drove me nuts. you need to install libstdc++ -devel here's a link to the bug report at mandrake. https://qa.mandrakesoft.com/cgi-bin/...ug.cgi?id=1263

I ran find /usr/include -name iostream.h and no
result here's the one that fails
#include <iostream.h>

int main()
{
cout <<"Helo World!\n";
return 0;
}
I have a feeling iostream.h is not there ?
thanks
