I have installed SecureWeb v3.2.2-4 and added ScriptAlias (among other things) to httpsd.conf.

When I start httpsd I get Invalid command 'ScriptAlias'. I get this error message for some of the other values as well.

Can anyone help me? Does SecureWeb not recognize ScriptAlias?

SecureWeb is based on apache, correct? If so do you have mod_alias installed.

Yes, mod_perl is installed.

When I try to execute a cgi script from the command line I get

(offline mode: enter name=value pairs on standard input)

Does this help?

I just noticed you said mod_alias. My eyes saw mod_perl.

I'll check.

I have reinstalled SecureWeb (which is in fact a superset of Apache) and all seems as it should be. I have mod_alias included.

Whenever I try to execute a cgi script from the command line I get this prompt:

(offline mode: enter name=value pairs on standard input).

When I hit CTRL-D it prints my the source code.

Any ideas?

Mind sharing what the problem/fix was? Someone else may come along with the same question. Thanks.

Sure, although I can't put my finger on one single thing.

Your suggestion to include mod_alias did solve the ScriptAlias problem.

I used a ServerName of localhost.

I removed Apache and SecureWeb then reinstalled SecureWeb.

But the embarassing part is this: I was working throught the Learning Perl book and started the CGI section. They talk of running the first example CGI script from the command line. I ran it from the Linux command line and got the results I mentioned earlier.

When I entered localhost/cgi-bin/<file> in the url window of Netscape all was well.

Thanks for you help.
