Hi,

I set the following on my netscape of linux RH7 which connected a window 2000 professional:

HTTP: 192.168.0.1 port 6588
Secure: 192.168.0.1 port 6588
FTP: 192.168.0.1 port 21
Gopher: 192.168.0.1 port 6588
WAIS: 192.168.0.1 port 6588

other proxy: localhost

However, I cannot check email through messenger. It revealed a socket problem.

Was I set the wrong port? so that I cannot download the email from my ISP?

Thanks for any help.

have you tried to set exceptions for bypassing the proxies for particular hosts or whatever? what or how are you connecting to you mail host? is it outside or on the 2000 server. I believe the smtp and pop requests go thru port 25 if i am not mistaken. someone correct me if i am wrong.
