i am sure you can program c within win98, now if your asking on how to program with C, people go to college for years to do that, or teach themselves with books and what not....

The easiest way to get started under win98 i'd say is to use Cygwin, which includes the full C bunch of stuff.

Or otherwise there's erm.... gjypp ? or something similar.

(y'know, i'm like 96% positive that trickykid etc... wish i didn't post when i blatantly don't know enough.... ahh well....! :-))

Let's stick to the subject gentlemen...

...

If you wish is to program in Windows, then I'd suggest using MSDEV C++. It will compile C and C++ programs and it has a good visual debugger. As for learing C, you should get a good beginners book. If you have not done much programming before, C is not the best language to learn by example (ie. looking at other programs). Once you have a good knowledge of C or C++ you can really pick up other languages fast.

I learned C and then C++ first, but the guys at work tell me that Java was much easier to learn than C++ as a beginning language.

Thumbs up c programming

If I read correct you want a c\c++ debugger. You can find a good one at the borland site!!
I found mine there (that is when used to work with win98).
As for a book I suggest the guide by SAMS publissing.
The above debugger is for DOS and Windows so start from there (it's free)

C/C++ compiler

The best DOS compiler IMHO is DJGPP.

Check it out at: http://www.delorie.com/djgpp.

Have Fun!
