samba help pls


I have installed RH 7.1 Linux and samba. I have set up samba and able to see in my NT machine as a shared account.
I log in as admin in to my NT machine and try to change my domain,it says "unable to connect to domain ,have ur administrator checked ur account on domain"
Where I am wrong??
any help pls.

I believe I have seen other posts which have stated that Samba can not be a domain server.
That is probably why the NT box cannot change to the Samba domain.

methinks u need to add a 'machine account' to the samba server for the NT rig. Check the Samba book online at a samba.org mirror near you.

I have a feelin't that for the 2.0 Samba servers you have to download a patch from the Samba guy's www site to make it support PDC operation. I think its not included in the normal source tree as it isn't considered stable enough, mind you I've also heard of people sucessfully using it for loads users and machines. Haven't got a clue what the story is with the 2.2 Samba code though.

You'll need Samba 2.2 if you want your Linux machine to serve as an NT Primary Domain Controller.
