Opera

I downloaded Opera for use with Linux 6.2

However I cannot load it onto the system.

Has anybody had any luck with Opera???

I'm sure that if you describe the installation process and where it went wrong thwn we may be able to help. Did you download a .tar or was it a shell installer?

I downloaded all versions off the opera web site. I am running 6.2.

When I go through file manager and find the file on the mounted device and work my way down to the install option. I find the install.sh file ( it appears to be the only one which resembles an executable) I double click on it and it advises me that there is nothing to be done.

I guess the first question is what version should I be using? A dynamic or static version? and the option of B7 PPC or X86?

Again any help appreciated

The static version does not require qt 2.2 to be installed.
this one should work if you are not sure.
if you are using Redhat/Mandrake get the rpm it's easier
I used the tar ball and start it from the terminal.(i was only playing with it too see it work and did not copy the
./opera to the /user/bin.)

have the file - what is the command you are using to run the program?

I still cannot get it to run. I would have thought running the install.sh file would have produced better results than a message of nothing to be done.

Did you run the file in a terminal window? If not try it that way.

from a terminal type "./opera"
you could create a desktopp app for it.
or move the executable to /user/local/bin if you dont want to include the path to it or cd to it in a terminal
