Red face

Hi,

I linked my linux redhat 7 with another window2000 prof.

How can I get file of window 2000 from my linux box?

The window 2000 harddisk was formatted by NTFS. Will it be a problem?

Do I need to set up the samba server for linux 1stly?

Thanks for kind help.

Samba doesn't sound like a bad idea, if you set it up it would make file sharing easier for you.

Exclamation netBEUI allso ?

hi

does this mean netBEUI has to be installed as well as the regular tcp/ip adresses
samba takes care of the UDP protocole i take it??
and just allows file sharing with windows ??
right ?
Sorry for the question im quite new and anxious to learn this

thanks

an FTP server can work nicely for this as well.

NetBEUI

Phil75,

NetBEUI is simply a transport for NetBIOS, you don't actually configure it for Linux as both the Linux box and Windows will use NetBIOS over TCP/IP. The only thing that you will find different is that becuase TCP/IP won't do masses of broadcasts it can take a while for the Windows box to see the Linux box compared to a Windows->Windows network using NetBEUI.

HTH

Jamie...
