request file destroyed

I'm trying to install linux for the first time and I'm getting no where. I' m using Mandrake 6.5 and installing from a CD-rom. After the message "ramdisk:compressed file found at block 0", the computer reboots. If it dosen't reboot then it crashes on the next line which says, "kernal panis ramdisk: request file destroyed". I think I understand what is happenig but I don't know why or how to fix it. Help! I'm using EZ-bios could this be causing a prblem or is it something else?
