I just installed Mandrake 8.0 because of some problems betweeen me and Mr. Gates.
I had some problems with my mouse, it is a MS intellipoint ps/2 wheel. I have since discovered it is not compatible. Anyone know of one that is?
Also I am having a problem with something I think may have something to do with my video cards.
I'll start with the cards, they are as follows {Voodoo3 2000}{voodoo1}{stb128[Nvidia]}
When I installed and was setting up for X it only showed the voodoo3 and the stb128 along with my MpactMediaware card for my DVD drive I chose only to use the voodoo3. Why wont it show the voodoo1? I don't know.
Also when I try to open/run anything that looks like it would use the capbilities of the 3d card/s
,such as gltron, or the other games and programs that look as if they might have nice graphics, (if I could get them to work) they only open for maybe 1/20th of a second, then they disappear.
Why why why
I know this has got to be better than windows i just know it
If you can help me I will be your slave (maybe)
I really want Linux to work for me I really do
If you want it to work for me too than please, a little assistance and guidance
Have you searched the forum for mention of your mouse? I'm sure that in the last few days someone has got one of these working...
As for the video cards - you've got 3 in the same box?? I can't say I've had much to do with 3D cards under linux but I'd suggest knocking the system back to a single viedo card for debug purposes, then once that single card is behaving add the others back in, although I don't know what X's support for multiheaded systems is like.
if u look on the bottom of ur mouse it will tell u what it is compatable with....I have Mandrake 8.0 on a gateway with an intelli mouse with trakk ball. I will have to give u the specific when I get home. If u can wait that long
Thanks for the help guys
I have since gotten my mouse to work
For my particular model you have to set it up at install as a generic ps/2 with no wheel
then go into drakmouse and set it as a wheel then reboot it tells you that it foun new hardware but you just ignore that and then go back and put is as regular again then reboot and set is as wheel so its like you have 3 mice on it but not really
I took out the card with the nvidia chip and it seems to be working now
I think nvidia and 3dfx chipsets dont work well together
