Cool

Ok,

Here is a somewhat useless question that reflects my laziness (or maybe my unwillingness to remove my hands from my keyboard and mouse).

I just installed RedHat 7.1 (previously running 7.0) and I notice that when I right click on one of my CD-ROM icons on my KDE desktop, that there is no eject option as there was in RedHat 7.0. I liked this feature because it automatically unmated the CD-ROM and ejected it in one go.

Is there any way to get this back or should I get used to the idea of pressing the stupid button on the CD-ROM?

I'm usually doing something in the terminal, so while I'm there I just type 'eject cdrom', and it just pops out. I never really tried to click on the desktop to do it.

I'm sure there's a way to add that feature to your desktop menu. Try to figure out where the values in that menu come from. Try the control-panel first and see if there's any clues in there.

Excellent!

I've just tried this in RH7.1 and it is great (i've just killed 20 mins playing .. in and out , in and out )

This from 'eject --help'

Eject version 2.0.2 by Jeff Tranter (tranter@pobox.com)

Usage:

eject -h -- display command usage and exit

eject [-vnrsfq] [<name>] -- eject device

eject [-vn] -d -- display default device

eject [-vn] -a on|off|1|0 [<name>] -- turn auto-eject feature on or off

eject [-vn] -c <slot> [<name>] -- switch discs on a CD-ROM changer

eject [-vn] -t [<name>] -- close tray

Options:

-v -- enable verbose output

-n -- don't eject, just show device found

-r -- eject CD-ROM

-s -- eject SCSI device

-f -- eject floppy

-q -- eject tape

Long options:

-h --help -v --verbose -d --default

-a --auto -c --changerslot -t --trayclose

-r --cdrom -s --scsi -f --floppy

-q --tape -n --noop

Parameter <name> can be a device file or a mount point.

If omitted, name defaults to `cdrom'.

By default tries -r, -s, -f, and -q in order until success.

FNC, I had a look at K Menu Edit, but there does'nt seem to be a way to edit desktop icon menus.
