Question ppp conneection results

Hi!

Can any-one tell me how to access the environment variables CONNECT_TIME, DEVICE, BUTES_RECVD etc. which are doucumented under man -pages of pppd?

I am able to get ppp-line up and down with scripts. I also see the line details in the log file generated by syslog. But I don't want to refer to syslog. I want the line status and it's connection period etc on different variables to use it in another interface program.

pls. Help

regards,

sharmila
