Do you have a rescue disk, oh man I hope so. If you do you will want to boot with it and boot into single user mode to mount your filesystems and then can fix the problem from there, unless someone has another resolution. It does sound like it is something to do with the X windows, like it is trying to start but can't.
Oh after the error, try and do a ctrl-alt-F2, to switch terminals and to check if you can get a login prompt there.

You should be able to boot into single user mode by typing 'linux single' at the 'lilo:' prompt. From there, you should be able to run Xconfigurator to fix your problem.
Question: before you changed the screen res. did Xwindows work at all? In other words, did it ever work?

-Reason I ask: Had a similar error when I had mouse problems. Changed back to text mode boot (runlevel 3) and got mouseconfig errors when I tried to run startx.

re : linux_setup

Hello guys and thanks a lot for the quick response !

I`ve done what you said and it worked fine.
I`ve logged in text mode as root and in Xconfigurator i changed the LCD type and it worked great.
Now i`m afraid to change the type again but the resolution is very high and everything is so small that you can hurt your eye. (my screen max res is 1400 x 1050 ) .
Does anyone have an idea?

Thanks again !
