I have installed slackware 8.0 recently. When trying to get X11 working, my mouse cursor does not respond. I can close the windows that pop up when it starts using the keyboard so it is not frozen. also, my mouse works in the console rumming gpm with the bare option for my two-button serial mouse. Any ideas as to why the cursor is unresponsive in X? Any ideas on how to fix it?
Distribution: Mandrake Linux v10.2, RHEL3u8, RHEL4u4 & RHEL5 Client Beta2 for desktop

I got it to work ;O) You were no help but I got it ) I noticed the mouse was on 3F8 address so then I went into the setup on bootup (bios) and noticed 3f8 was COM1 under the power maintenance screen. So then I edited my /etc/X11/XF86Config file and made it /dev/ttyS0 (which is COM1) and set it to Microsoft other then PS/2 and rebooted it worked perfectly.

It's not tricky's fault that you put the wrong
parameters in during xf86config and had to
manually edit XF86Config ... :P
