i'm not sure i understand the question(s) here... which kde app are you trying to use?

tail and grep are both shell programs (primarily) and i'm not aware of any apps that use them the way the shell can.

your question/query is quite unclear.

do you want the info to be in X in realtime, with the updating log scrolling?

That is right

I have already found the solution, just keep the file open and read just a new line after 5 seconds.

...

Sorry but can't understand... what file ? I'm tryin do use "Log Viewer" widget fro plasma and it's says
Code:
/usr/bin/tail:cannot open '/var/log/messages' for reading:No such file ot directory
and there is no such file ot directory when i go to /var/log with dolphin i tryed to make prmissions of /var/log to my user (that worked for some things in Kde like some sounds and animations that doesn't dysplay by default) but doesn't do the trick here
So i'm using Kubuntu Natty 11.04 (actualy is Ubuntu Natty i install kde 4.6.2 later and then update to 4.6.4 and then to 4.6.5 :P )...
Is this widget just too old for my distro?
