Hello does anybody know what error 16 is? If so does anyone know how to solve it. It might be my winmodem, but it uses a lucent chipset so it should work. Any ideas?

Same problem-Daemon Death

Greeting group,

I have mulled over numerous documents available for

setting up a winmodem in Linux. I discovered the winmodem I

have

(PCTel HSP56) is one of only a few with support. With the

most

extreme caution I managed compile and load the necessary

module.

Using kppp, I am able dialup but upon connect the daemon

will

"unexpectantly die". What can I do to learn more about

how/why

the daemon dies?

You may take a look at

http://walbran.org/sean/linux/stodolsk/

There is a PCTel driver for RedHat 7.0 (kernel 2.2.16-22)

It's caused by the old PCTel driver not compatible with ppp module after kernel 2.2.15.

I have struggled it for days, and find the answer just at corner. I'm now a happy linmodem user again
