Hi all,

Has anyone upgraded from 6.2 to 7.1 using the cd's? Is is just a matter of saying "upgrade" in the installation process? What potential problems are there?
Thanks.

Jon

Yes, Redhat.
I was afraid I might hear some horror stories about doing this. I want to be fully prepared. Perhaps a bottle of Jack should come with your upgrade package

I just did 6.2 to 7.0, and it went smooth as silk. I've had other problems since then, in that some things that got installed overwrote earlier installations of those apps, and I've been struggling to undo some unintended tangles, but I'm very new to a lot of this, and it was sort of stupid of me in those cases. Still, I don't think they have anything at all to do with the upgrade from CD.

I just booted from the floppy in the boxed set, then moved to the CD, clicked "Upgrade", made some custom choices regarding RPM's, and off we went.
