memory probs and kernel recompile..

hiii.....

i have confirmed that my bios detects my 128 MB RAM...
but my linux does not..

i have edited lilo boot many times....with an entry
append = "mem = 127 M" but in vain...also
i have given arguments like mem =127 M at lilo boot but
it also didn't work....

ny ways out...

Also i have tried to reconfigure my kernel.....but it tells
me command make not found when i type make config...
or such other commands...in /usr/src/linux dir....what does this
mean.....

can anyone help me out.....plss

Code:
append="mem=128M"
with no spaces between characters (although I'm not sure that matters) should be the correct syntax for the line in /etc/lilo.conf. Remember that you must re-run lilo after making any changes changes. Type /sbin/lilo.

I read a post recently by someone who needed to use a different syntax to get his/her memory recognized, but I don't remember what it was at the moment. I'll repost if I can find it.

Well, that was easy. I found the syntax answer about halfway down the responses to your other post on the *ahem* _EXACT_SAME_SUBJECT_.

ok... first of all *stop* cross-posting. please. we'll sort out the problems one by one here... you don't need to start a new thread, just go to the "post reply" button at the bottom of the thread.

on the kernel config... do NOT compile from the /usr/src/linux/ directory.

you should have a directory that has the linux kernel version on it... that directory should be /usr/src/linux-2.2.18/, or /usr/src/linux-2.4.5/, depending on your kernel version. (it would also help if we knew what version you were running) you can compile from one of these directories. try "make menuconfig" to configure the kernel.
