Unhappy

I am trying to configure my RedHat Linux 6.0 machine to my home LAN. I have installed NetGear FA 311/312 ethernet card and have copied fa311.o file to /lib/modules/2.xxxxx/net directory. But still I think my machine is not able to recognize the ethernet card.

Can somebody send me the complete procedure to install the ethernet card on RedHat Linix 6.0

Thanks

Go here:

Go to http://www.netgear.com/support_main.asp

Go to the Drivers section and search for "Linux"
There are documents for Redhat v6.x and v7.0

Thanks Kevin,

I installed the new drivers from NetGear website i.e I copied fa311.o to /lib/modules/2.xxxxx/net directory and added the IP address using linuxconf and rebooted the machine. The eth0 initialization is OK but if I issue "ifconfig" command it still only shows me lo and not eth0 but "ifconfig -a" shows both. any suggestions????

I think this means....

that the system is loading the drivers, but not activating the card. Try the /usr/sbin/netconfig utility.

If that doesnt work, try "modprobe fa311" then use /sbin/ifconfig to set the card up (check 'man ifconfig') for info on that.

I tried ifconfig to setup my card i.e. the command
"ifconfig eth0 192.168.0.2 netmask 255.255.255.0"
this gives me error "Resource temporarily unavailable"

any help would be appreciated.
