Can anyone tell me if it is possible to resise partitions using the Diskdrake feature once in the desktop without losing data?

i assume you mean altering the size of your linux partition. i think that the disk drake tool can do it but if it can;t then there is GNU parted. it is a command line tool that can alter linux partitions without destroying data.
