Problem with LCD display

Hi everyone!
was just wondering if anyone has installed Redhat on a Twinhead laptop with a sis 630 graphics card b4? i got a problem with the display. the weird thing is when i am installing redhat, there's a graphical interface, but after i rebooted the system and it comes to the log on screen, i can only see half of the screen?
i have tried almost everything, changing the xf86configurator file, changnig refresh rates, etc
but it didn't seems to work. can anynoe enlighten me? or redhat dont' work SiS graphics cards?

It should work, you just have to get the right server running and the refresh right, Xconfigurator should do the trick. You will probably have to do a lot of trial and error type stuff.

I am afraid of trial and error because I heard that the wrong refresh rates are going to damage the screen. Is this true? It is pretty expensive to replace a laptop's screen. Do you know what is the safe range of refresh rates to test?

Best thing to do is contact the people that made it or look it up on the internet and get the specs.

Yes you can damage it.

Probing is usually safe but if you know what your specs are it could save a lot of time.

You could start with 640 480 vga 16 colors. No clock settings.

I have already look thru the website of the manufacturer, and the solution they gave is actually quite long ago. They suggested that we change the server but the main problem is, they didn't say how to write the XF86Config file..and I think my main problem is there. (Btw, i tried their method, they actually gave a XF86Config eg file, but it didn't work out) I can only get half of the screen out. Nevertheless I might give it a last shot, was just hoping someone would give me a workable XF86Config file.

hmm..well..spent the whole day trying out all the different refresh rates, didn't seem to work, does anyone has linux WORKING on a twinhead laptop with SiS 630 graphics card? Please kindly contact me with your XF86Config

Hi everyone, for those who are looking for a solution to my question....well..i finally got it working..but only after upgrading my XFree server from 4.0.3 to 4.1.0 and it still need some fine tuning after that(some problems with starting up with a window manager, guess the upgrade overwritten some configuration files). Nevertheless at least redhat can be started with Xterm.
