Unhappy

Hi,

I installed RedHat distribution on a new HD on Pc, where W$98 already installed. Everything was right before the reboot, because now I can't choose which OS must be loaded, and I have full screen of binary number which is displayed and scroll ....
I tried to disconnect the HD with Linux, but I can't start W$98 anymore.
I don't undertand what happened, could you help me ?

Thanks,
Sylvain

When your computer first boots up, what do you see? does it say:

LILO:

And then the scrambling words start or what?

If it says LILO: you'll want to hit the tab button, this should list if you have your DOS or Linux installed to boot from, DOS standing for Windows of course.

If not, you might have lost or partitoned your existing Windows, after the binary garbage which I am unsure of your speaking about, does it ever come to a login prompt.

What kind of install did you select when instaling RedHat?

It's something like that, I don't remember if LILO is displayed, but I'm sure I have a following of
"01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 ............." and it's scrolling on my screen ! ...
I can stop it by pressing Pause touch, but that's all !

When I boot with a DOS floppy, I can see my C drive (where W$98 is installed - Master HD)

To install it, I ran autoboot utility and selected every options in the "graphic" environment. As I remember I took "KDE"

You might want to try this at the A: prompt with your dos floppy:

fdisk /MBR

This will clear out your Master Boot Record, then reboot and see if it boots up Windows from there.
