Hi everyone.
After a long time and many efforts, and with the help od someone on this forum, i have installed my linmodem (pctel).

But now i have a new problem. Now, when i'm connected, my audio doesn't work. For example, when i'm connected, and i try to play an mp3, XMMS gets busted and i have to kill it

What can i do?

Well. When i'm connected, i can't hear wav files actually.

If i play an MP3 with XMMS, it just gets stucked. IF i enter in netscape to a page that i know thatr has flash animatios, netscape get stucked too...

I was thinking that maybe is a irq conflict or something like that, because as soon i disconnect, everything seems to work normally. But i don't know how to check.

By the way, i'm using winlinux (a version of slackware) i have a cm8739 sound card, and I have a HSP56 modem.

Thanx

Unhappy

it sounds like it could be an irq conflict. im assuming both cards are isa cards otherwise this shouldn;t be a problem (pci don;t suffer from irq conflicts).

ive noticed in the compatibility list that your sound card isn;t listed but if you have it working when not connected then it could be just an irq conflict but keep in mind that it may not ever work.

if you;re using windows on the same machine then use that to find irq, i/o, and dma channels (in the control panel then system devices in case you didn;t know). then boot linux and go to /etc/rc.d/rc.modules and make sure that where your card module is loaded that after it the right irq and io are set as well. (if you have know idea what i mean then say [im assuming that your slackware is the same as mine])

to see what ports your tihng is using at the moment poke around in the /proc directory for the information.

Alex

P.S. is pnptools set up right?
P.P.S. if it isn;t a isa thing then i have no idea and thins was all a waste of time
