I am attempting to set up a minimalist Linux box for my nephew. (He's a mac cultist, needs converting) The machine is a 133 Pentium running Red Hat 6.2. The modem is a Zoom 2949 external modem. I have two more machines at home with the same modem on the same operating system. Neither of those gave any problems.
But this one, though detected on the proper serial port, returns the following results to DEBUG:
Wvdial Internet dialer version 1.41

Sending: ATZ

Modem initialized.

ATDT 6376776
ERROR
Invalid dial command.
Disconnecting at Sat Feb 24 08:29.34 2001
The number is correct and all the connections are good.
I have searched the internet and Zoom's support log, with no results. Does anyone have any words of wisdom?
