OK, I need to get my IP via a LAN from a DHCP Server. Win is working, so the hardware is ok. Neither pump nor dhcpcd is getting anywhere, so now I run dhclient. For it to work I need to change the MAC w/which it connects to the Server as I am registered there w/ a different MAC address than I have right now. So in which config file can I change the MAC address?

To change the MAC address of your NIC you would use ifconfig. Note that this will not work with some distrubutions or drivers and is usually not recommended.

Question Hm exactly what?

I am running RH 6.2. and one of the cheap RTL 8139. I changed the MAC already when I tried the pump command, so that should be the same then...
So exactly what do you recommend? Where is the most likely source of error?
