Cyanogen or other SDcard android for Viewsonic G-Tablet?

Right now it's not heavy enough to be a boat anchor, but is just about as useful. It's locked up twice, requiring complete reconstruction of the apps and configuration TWICE, and now it refuses to run ANY of the downloaded apps that worked fine the day before. I'm dealing with Chase's extended warranty program, but have no idea about the outcome. Assuming it's bad, is there anything like the CyanogenMod7 (or newer) that can run off the SDcard without actually touching the GTablet's system itself? As far as utility goes, it's close to a brick now -- but the hardware is actually nice and I'd like to do something good with it.
