I have a Samsung Galaxy Nexus running Jelly Bean 4.2.1.

There is a Voice Dialer app on the phone. When I click on the Voice Dialer icon, a message comes up that says "Starting Up." However, the app never starts up, and in fact there is a slash through the microphone icon within the Voice Dialer icon, indicating the app isn't working or won't work. Since it's not working, I'd like to get rid of both the app and the icon. However, when I go to Settings->Apps, the Voice Dialer app is not listed there. When I open my Avast! application to use its "Application Management" function, it does show Voice Dialer in the list but shows that it is "not running." The only options it offers are "Force Stop" and "Disable." The Voice Dialer icon does not show up on any of my Home screens but it does show up in the view that presents pages of alphabetized icons. I try to get rid of the icon by long-pressing on it and moving it off the screen but that does not work: it pops right back onto the screen. I am tearing my hair out with this app.

My questions are:

1) Why is Voice Dialer not working?

2) Why is it not shown in the Apps list in Settings?

3) Why does it not have an uninstall option?

3) How do I get rid of the icon?
