Google gave me this link: http://androidadvices.com/how-to-upd...-3-3-firmware/ Perhaps it can help you.
Maybe this is a good starting point as well for rooting the device and getting some more out of the phone.

the most simple way is to go to Samsung's webpage and download and install KIES program.
After installing KIES start it up and the program will ask if you want to update your phone click OK or Yes to do so(phone needs to be connected through the mini USB cable to the PC)
If your phone came with an Arabic (or some other) firmware and KIES reports that there is no firmware available for your phone, then you may still upgrade it to lets say a European firmware using the Odin program
for this you need to go to Samfirmware page and create an account(its free) so you may download the Odin Program for your Gio and a firmware of your choice
NEVER INSTALL A FIRMWARE THAT WAS INTENDED FOR ANOTHER PHONE ! EX.: Samsung Galaxy ACE . DON'T DO IT!
because I am too lazy to write here's a video on youtube explaining how to do it.
hope this helped

Yes,is easy but must carefully!I tried variations of ICS (CM9 and CM10Macklav), and minilinux, but the best is CM 7 Miracle! eate breakfast, no bugs, works perfectly on arm6 by Gio
